Geezer Butler leads tributes for 'Back to Black' star

Tue, 26 Jul 2011

Black Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler has led tributes to North London soulstress, Amy Winehouse, who was found dead at her home on Saturday after battling drink and drug addiction for years as well as struggling with depression.

Rock News Desk has reported the iconic Black Sabbath and Heaven and Hell bassist as saying:

"It would be disrespectful of me if I didn’t mention the passing of one of my all-time favourite musicians, Amy Winehouse.

"To me, she was and is up there with Billie, Bessie, Sarah, Dinah and Ella. I was so looking forward to her new stuff but I’ll always love the old stuff.

"A tremendous talent taken from us. Her voice will live on longer than all the crap written about her."

A number of rocks wild men who are more then 'qualified' to comment on the untimely passing of Ms.Winehouse have also paid tribute to the 'Back to Black' singer who was found dead at her Camden flat at around 4.00pm on Saturday (23rd July).

Nikki Sixx, Motley Crue: "Drugs suck. How much clearer does the message have to be? RIP Amy."

Zakk Wylde, Black Label Society: "She could fucking sing. God bless."

Rikki Rockett, Poison: "Fame doesn’t give you happiness. It’s a shame Amy couldn’t see the part that surpasses that – the part she earned and no tabloid could mar, or any critic could ever take away."

Dave Mustaine, Megadeth: "I wish you’d said yes, yes, yes. We will miss you."

Dave Navarro, Jane’s Addiction: "So sad to hear about Amy Winehouse. My deepest condolences to her friends and family and fans. You will be missed."
