Former Beatles drummer, Pete Best, gets road naming honour
Thu, 28 Jul 2011
Pete Best, the original drummer for The Beatles before Ringo Starr joined the now world famous foursome is set to recognised by his home city of Liverpool with two
roads named in his and mother's honour.
A campaign set up on Facebook supported by over 10,000 people got the city to take notice to honour the drummer by naming "Pete Best Drive" after the former Beatle.
Mother, Mona Best, will also be remembered with the naming of Casbah Close, as a tribute to her work with The Casbah Club, which she set up the venue that became 'instrumental to the Beatles success'.
Speaking to the BBC, Pete Best said of the news, "I feel very humbled, very flattered and very honoured that the city of Liverpool, council members and the people of Liverpool have thought to honour me in such a fantastic way."
