Plans to name bridge after Nirvana icon are shelved

Recent plans to name a bridge in honour of Nirvana legend, Kurt Cobain have been shelved by Aberdeen City Council, reports the NME.
The Young Street Bridge, which is unofficially named after pioneer Alexander Young was referred to in the song 'Something in the Way' which featured on the Nevermind LP. The bridge crosses the Wishkah River and has now become a visitors attraction for music fans.
Cobain claimed to have slept rough under the Young Street bridge which presumably is where the idea for the song came from with lyrics such as "underneath the bridge, the tarp has sprung a leak, and the animals I've trapped, have all become my pets."
Still the City Council voted a resounding 10/1 against the idea of honouring the grunge icon. It is believed that the decision not to name the bridge after Cobain was due to his frequent drug use and controversial suicide as well as the negativity in some of his lyrics towards his hometown of Aberdeen.
'The Deluxe' & Super Deluxe' reissues of Nevermind will be released on Sept.26
