Pete & Carl spark Libertines reunion rumours

Fri, 12 Aug 2011

Libertines, Pete Doherty and Carl Barat have sparked fresh speculation of a reunion by posting a picture of themselves on Twitter looking happy and content together.

Barat tweeted: 'Just spent the day with me ol. Tickety bibble x'

Before following up with:

'Oh, and by the way, Peter doesn’t have a twitter."

The move will once again send the blogosphere into over drive and set tongues wagging about another potential reunion.

Barat recently finished a fleeting UK tour supporting his self-titled debut solo effort before performing at a number of shows & festivals around Europe. The last time he performed with Doherty was at last year's Reading & Leeds festivals along with bassist John Hassle & drummer Gary Powell.

However the turbulent relationship the pair have shared throughout their career and the underlying demons that Pete has been battling for years means that fans of the garage rock revivalists should not get too carried away. Especially when you factor in that only 3 months ago Barat told NME:

"We are all in very different places. Right now is not the time for The Libertines. I thought the water under the bridge was under the bridge, but maybe it's not. It's a very fucking hard thing. Every time we talk it just brings it back up."

"I don't believe we're healed from the hurt. If our hearts heal up then we can break them all over again. But right now… it's hard."

Pete Doherty is scheduled to perform solo at this year's Reading & Leeds festivals.
