'Stroked: A Tribute to Is This It' - Tracklisting

Mon, 15 Aug 2011

Ten years ago saw the release of The Strokes seminal garage-rock classic, Is This It.

The 11 track album was a breath of fresh air for music fans and the industry alike as head boy Julian Casablancas along with guitarists Nick Valensi & Albert Hammond Jr, bassist Nickolai Fraiture and drummer Fabrizio Moretti swaggered brazenly into the mainstream earning universal acclaim for their major label debut.

The album featured modern day classics such as 'Someday', 'Last Night and 'Hard to Explain' plus the controversial 'New York City Cops', which was subsequently removed along with the original album artwork which was deemed to provocative for the US market as it pictured a naked woman's behind.

The album is still widely regarded as the record which kick started a new musical revolution paving the way for a world-wide garage-rock revival.

So, to honour this iconic debut offering from one of the latter day monsters of music, website StereoGum asked eleven independent artists to each cover a song from the album, to which they duly responded.

The album is available as a free download via SteroGum.com and features unique covers by Peter, Bjorn and John, Real Estate and The Morning Benders among others.
