Chickenfoot start rehearsals with touring drummer
Tue, 16 Aug 2011
With "Chickenfoot III" due out in September and Chad Smith back in his full-time job with Red Hot Chili Peppers, the band have started rehearsals with a 'fill in touring drummer', Kenny Aronoff.
In a recent interview with SoundSpike , frontman Sammy Hagar revealed that they were trying out Kenny Aronoff for two days at the beginning of August, when discussing the 'supergroup's plans to possibly tour in support of the new record.
"If it works, we're going to go out in November, I think, and do a buzz tour, play small venues in five cities, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco. Then, we'll make sure that it works and the chemistry is good. If it is we'll go out with Kenny. We don't want to just grab a drummer just because he's good and find out that we don't have the chemistry. CHICKENFOOT is all about the chemistry," he explains the bands plan.
He went on to also add that Chickenfoot drummer Chad Smith was the one who picked Kenny Aronoff to keep his drumstool warm for him, "Chad picked him because h e said Kenny's just like him. He beats his drum set to death. At the end of every show you have to buy a new drum set for these guys. We need that power. Chad, he's powerful. Aronoff will just be on loan anyway. Chad's handing him the baton and he's going to run for awhile. When Chad can come back, we'll make "Chickenfoot IV"
Chickenfoot's second album "Chickenfoot III" is out September 26th (UK) and 27th (US).
