The fabled Dinosaur Jr. cover of Neil Young's, 'I've Been Waiting For You' has been made available for the first time since the grunge pioneers recorded the track back in December 1988 at Boston's Fort Apache Studios, reports Slicing Up Eyeballs.
The song was originally recorded for Neil Young tribute album, 'The Bridge: A Tribute to Neil Young', along with a cover of 'Lotta Love' which was included on the final cut and featured alongside The Flaming Lips cover of 'After The Gold Rush' & Pixies cover of 'Winertlong'.
However, after 23 years the track has now seen the light of day after being made public by bassist, Lou Barlow, who this week post it on his website, Loobiecore along with a handwritten account of the band's first visit to Fort Apache.
Barlow said on rediscovering the recording:
"I’ve Been Waiting For You": "I found the cassette of this stuff while home for the holidays… it hasn’t aged well, not the condition of the tape (sounds whooshy + chewed), not the performance of ‘I’ve Been Waiting For You’… it ain’t great, but it’s RARE."
In related news Dinosaur Jr. are planning to reissue their first three albums on vinyl. They are 1985's seminal debut, 'Dinosaur' and 1987's 'You're Living All Over Me' as well as their 1988 release, 'Bug' which was reissued on tape earlier this year.
