Slayer's Dave Lombardo hopes Jeff Hanneman can return for The Big Four New York show

Thu, 18 Aug 2011

Slayer's Jeff Hanneman has been out of action for most of 2011, missing out on some huge dates in the Slayer live calendar as he recovers from the flesh eating infection and emergency surgery caused by a spider bite earlier this year.

He surprised fans at The Big Four show in California a few months ago, playing briefly during the band's encore, but wasn't fit enough to join them on tour throughout Europe this summer, see here for details and video.

Drummer, Dave Lombardo, recently spoke with Lithium Magazine who asked about the guitarist's recovery, "Jeff’s doing well, he’s just taking it slow. It was a very bad operation and a very bad surgical procedure that they had to do with skin grafting." He said before continuing,
"Give the guy some time. So after the last show we’re going to take it easy and hopefully, we’re crossing our fingers, that he does the big four at Yankee Stadium."

Slayer will play at the New York Yankee Stadium on September 14th with the rest of The Big Four - Metallica, Megadeth and Anthrax.
