Metallica's 30 year heavy metal legacy will be celebrated at an exclusive, invite only art exhibit early next year, reports Metallica.com
The exhibition is the brainchild of artist & Exhibit A Gallery owner, Richard Vila III & legendary skateboarder, Tony Alva and will feature an array of artists from the worlds of Art, Fashion, Film, Music & Skateboarding all coming together to pay tribute to the metal elders.
Each artist has chosen a Metallica song for the 'Obey Your Master' exhibit and will "execute their vision in their individual artistic mediums, based on their interpersonal relationship to Metallica's lyrics and music."
The band have also confirmed that all of its members will be in attendance for the opening night along with the artists who have contributed.
Metallica posted the following statement about the exhibit on the band’s website earlier this week:
"The connection between music and art has always been a very powerful one for us, so the idea to show a collection of art inspired by our songs seemed like it could be pretty unique and special."
Fans hoping to attend will need to register with the Exhibit a Gallery website to gain exclusive information on how to receive an invite.
'Obey Your Master' an Art Tribute To Metallica will take place on Friday 20th January and is scheduled to run until March 23 2012
