Wynton Marsalis & Eric Clapton play the blues

The live collaboration between Eric Clapton & 9 time Grammy award winning Jazz colossus Wynton Marsalis will be released on both CD & DVD later this month, reports Gibson

Last April the pair teamed up to perform two sold-out shows with members of the Jazz at Lincoln Centre Orchestra at New York's Rose Hall. The duo performed a repertoire of songs selected by Clapton & arranged by Marsalis.

Trumpeter, composer & artistic director of Jazz at Lincoln Centre, said of the performance:

"We wanted these concerts to sound like people playing music they know and love, not like a project."

The duo were accompanied by by Dan Nimmer (piano), Carlos Henriquez (bass), Ali Jackson (drums), Marcus Printup (trumpet), Victor Goines (clarinet), Chris Crenshaw (trombone, vocals), Don Vappie (banjo) and Clapton’s longtime keyboardist/sideman Chris Stainton.
