Les Paul monument details revealed

Thu, 08 Sep 2011

The final resting place of electric guitar pioneer Les Paul is to be marked with a new granite memorial in his hometown of Wisconsin, reports Gibson.com

A public dedication ceremony will take place at 10:30 a.m on Saturday Sept.10 at his grave in Prairie Home Cemetery, Waukesha.

The Les Paul Estate commissioned the company Rock of Ages of Vermont to undertake the project and install the 500 square-foot granite memorial. Visitors will be able to read Paul's biography including a list of Paul's most significant awards.

Michael Braunstein of the Les Paul Foundation said:

"The memorial shares Les’s legacy with all who visit the site. We are very pleased with how everything looks. Les chose to be in Waukesha. We know the people of his hometown will cherish this site as Les Paul cherished his hometown,"
