Rolling Stones classic to receive reissue treatment

Tue, 13 Sep 2011

The Rolling Stones are working on a deluxe re-issue of their 1978 classic 'Some Girls.'

In an interview with Spinner, Mick Jagger revealed that he had just finished the outtakes for the re-issue whilst indicating that the album will receive a similar re-working to that of last year's 'Exile on Main St.'

He said:

"I just finished off doing all the outtakes for the Some Girls album we’re releasing at Thanksgiving," Jagger told Spinner. "We did Exile, we did a lot of different takes, a lot of different cuts that hadn’t come out before, so we’re doing the similar kind of thing with Some Girls, so I’ve just been doing them because a lot of them weren’t complete, so I had to complete them, and then we’re gonna mix those and put them out for Thanksgiving."

'Some Girls' was first released in 1978 and was the first album to be released through the rock elders own imprint Rolling Stones Records after their recording contract with Decca Records expired. The label was then discontinued in '92 after they signed to Virgin, however the tongue & lips logo still features on all post 1970 Rolling Stones releases.

The Stones will be celebrating their 50th anniversary next year although Jagger kept any celebration plans close to his chest.

He said:

"We talked about maybe what events are going to be going around for the 50th anniversary of the Rolling Stones. We don't really know the answer to that, but we talked about it a bit."
