John Lydon talks on his involvement with punk film 'Sons of Norway'

Fri, 16 Sep 2011

Johnny Lydon has spoke on his involvement with indie punk flick, 'Sons of Norway.'

Lydon, who ended up serving as executive producer after writer Nikolaj Frobenius 'ambushed him' with a script at a Public Image Ltd gig, also makes a cameo appearance in the Norwegian Sex Pistols-referencing drama which premiered at this year's Toronto International Film Festival earlier this month.

The film is set in the late 70's and details the life of a 14 year old boy who discovers the Sex Pistol's debut album 'Never Mind The Bollox', which served as the catalyst for the entire punk-rock movement.

The snarling punk godfather was speaking to Spinner magazine when he said:

"I'm really proud and glad and pleased that the other people involved appreciated my participation as much as I appreciated theirs."

He went on to say:

"Sons of Norway is an excellent film. It's a completely truthful, honest representation of life as we know it. It's a joyous film and it celebrates humanity and dismisses the rumours that punk is all negative."

'Sons Of Norway' is due to be screened at the festival again on Saturday (17).
