Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to host weeklong Pink Floyd tribute
Fri, 23 Sep 2011
US talk show 'Late Night Jimmy Fallon' will host a weeklong tribute to legendary rockers Pink Floyd in a move similar to that of last year's Rolling Stones celebrations, reports LoudWire
Both the Foo Fighters & Pearl Jam along with The Shins, MGMT & Dierks Bentley will pay homage to the Floyd with a series of performances in which they will cover classic Pink Floyd numbers.
The week long tribute will kick off Sept.26 and will feature performances and interviews by Nick Mason & Roger Waters.
However, the real exciting part is the news that Waters will be performing 'In The Flesh' with Dave Grohl & The Foo's live on the show.
As earlier mentioned the tribute shows will kick off next Monday (26) and will open with The Shins performing 'Breathe' from The Dark Side of the Moon. Tuesday will see Waters teaming up with the Foo Fighters along with Roger Waters' interview. Wednesday, trippy NY space cadets MGMT will perform Syd Barret era classic 'Lucifer Sam' off of The Piper at the Gates of Dawn LP. Thursday will see country star Dierks Bently tackle 'Wish You Were Here' and Friday, grunge kings Pearl Jam will take on another classic from The Wall in the form of Mother.
The weeklong celebrations are timed for the release of the bands 14 re-mastered studio albums.
