Tue, 04 Oct 2011

The Ed Sullivan Show was an American TV variety show that run from June 20, 1948 – June 6, 1971 and was hosted by New York entertainment columnist Ed Sullivan.

The show made TV history as being one of the few US entertainment shows to have been aired on the same weekly time slot and on the same network for over 20 years.

Throughout it's time it played host to a wealth of musicians such as Jerry Lewis, Elvis Presley, The Beatles, The Supremes, The Doors, Beach Boys & The Rolling Stones.

Now, according to MusicRadar you will be able to relive classic performances from The Rolling Stones when the complete DVD package becomes available on Nov.1 .

Hit's such as 'Time Is On My Side', 'Honky Tonk Women', 'Gimme Shelter' & 'Love in Vain' all feature on the DVD entitled 'The Rolling Stones on Ed Sullivan'.

"The best Rolling Stones TV performances are on these shows," says Andrew Solt, executive producer of the sets. "On the concert films and on other shows you don't get the same production values, and here the sound is as good as the visuals... [On Ed Sullivan] Groups knew they would appear in front of 35 million people so they rehearsed and made sure they would look good before doing on. Knowing they were playing live on TV made them do their best."
