Guns N' Roses "would never intentionally disrespect their fans" says publicist

Wed, 12 Oct 2011

Earlier this month, Guns N Roses headlined the closing night of Brazil's Rock In Rio Festival taking the stage 2 hours late.

The bands lateness is nothing to surprise fans and frontman Axl Rose further upset fans with a post on the Guns N Roses Facebook Page at the weekend telling fans who to go watch popular sitcom "Friends" or go to a movie if they want to see a show "on time".  See full story here.

After the backlash the band received from their Rock In Rio time keeping and likely to be the reaction to post their publicist released a statement to Music News Site Blabbermouth.net yesterday to "Set the record straight on Rock In Rio".

"The festival's inadequate production and the downpour of rain delayed the event."
The statement reads, "Anyone who was there knows that SYSTEM OF A DOWN did not leave the stage until close to 1:15 in the morning. SYSTEM's extensive stage production did not finish coming offstage until 1:45 a.m. GN'R's production was up and ready to go at 2:15 a.m"

The statement also explained that frontman, Axl Rose, was on site and ready to go onstage at 1am but the "inadequate cover" of the stage meant the soundboard was effected and needed replacing due to water damage during the heavy rain and the band went onstage at 2.40 to play for "Two-and-a-half hours in the pouring rain."

Concluding the statement it exclaiming, "GN'R would never seek to intentionally disrespect anyone, especially their fans."

Guns N Roses will hit the road on their North American tour later this year.
