Thu, 13 Oct 2011
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers are to release a live vinyl LP in support of his 'ongoing battle with the corporate takeover of the record industry', reports RollingStone
The collection of live cuts, which will primarily consist of material from last's years Mojo album, will be to mark Record Store Day's Black Friday on Nov.25, which supports independent record stores.
However, the vinyl will also reportedly include a new version of 'Sweet William', originally a B side to 1999's Echo track, Room at the Top.
In related news The Heartbreakers will be performing a intimate show to benefit Cal State University Northridge's non-commercial, public FM radio station KCSN.
The station lost government funding last year due to not 'meeting the Corporation of Public Broadcasting's minimum audience & fundraising requirements.' This caused the station to lose their weekday hosts & change programming.
