MTV EMA's to honour Queen as "Global Icons"

Earlier this month the BMI Awards in London honoured the legendary Queen as Icons for their "unique and indelible influence on generations of music makers".  

Yesterday MTV announced at this year's MTV Europe Music Awards (EMA's) they would be naming Queen as this year's "Global Icon".  


Queen will also be performing live at the awards held in
Belfast, Northern Ireland on November 6th.

MTV/Viacom International Media Network Vice President Bruce Gillmer explained, "Over the past four decades, QUEEN has made an indelible impact on the pop music landscape. They are passionately revered by generations of fans and musicians across the globe, We are absolutely thrilled that they will be joining us at this year's MTV EMA, and we look forward to a very special performance."

Speaking about the honour guitarist Brian May said
"We are honored to be designated a Global Icon. We will do our best to be worthy!"
