David Bowie artefacts to feature in British design exhibit

Mon, 31 Oct 2011

A number of David Bowie artefacts will be included in an upcoming exhibit celebrating 'British Design' according to Bowies official website.

Set to be staged at London's Victoria & Albert Museum the exhibit will feature Bowies 'Aladdin Sane' album cover in its original dye-transfer photograph which was shot by Brian Duffy in 1973, a knitted wool stage costume by Japanese designer Kansai Yamamoto and a 'Diamond Dogs' session photograph of Bowie taken by Terry O'Neill in 1974.

The exhibit, which will be called 'British Design 1948-2012: Innovation In The Modern Age', will open in March 2012 and will be dedicated to some of the classics of post-war British design.

The museum's director, Professor Martin Roth, said: "As people around the world will be focusing on the UK in the summer of 2012 this is an ideal moment to showcase British innovation, taste and creativity. We are also delighted to be hosting a series of British themed displays across all the collections in the Museum to accompany the major spring exhibition."
