Metallica to perform the Black Album in it's entirety at Download 2012

Download Festival revealed the first of their 2012 headliners tonight, Metallica.

As promised throughout the day after the news that Metallica would take the slot there was a twist though to their announcement by drummer Lars Ulrich on the Zane Lowe Radio 1 show around 7pm. Many thought it would lead to a collaboration with Lou Reed at the festival, but fans were delighted with the real news.

To help Download Festival celebrate it's 10th year, Metallica will play their 1991 self titled "Metallica" abum (also known as the Black Album) in its entirety for the crowd at Donnington Park!

Another headliner will be announced tomorrow with the internet awaiting the Black Sabbath press conference in LA at 11.11am could they be headliner number 2?
