Van Halen signs to Interscope Records
Wed, 16 Nov 2011
Van Halen fans might finally see the new record soon as the
band have reportedly signed their new record deal with Interscope Records.
The Hollywood Reporter revealed a few days ago that the rumoured Columbia Records deal fell through when frontman David Lee Roth refused to sign with a label based on the East Coast of the United States, wanting to sign with a West Coast label.
"He was never on board with Columbia," a source tells Hollywood Reporter about David Lee Roth's reluctance to the deal with the Sony label. "It was as complicated as anyone would imagine, when one side says black, the other says white. The label was pretty skeptical that things would work out."
The new Van Halen record is expected for release in 2012, and will be the first studio album with David Lee Roth since 1984.
Currently nothing has been officially confirmed by the band, management or Interscope.
