Slayer start work on new album

Mon, 21 Nov 2011

After postponing work on their next record earlier this year until guitarist Jeff Hanneman could fully recover,(he's been out of action for most of 2011 after contracting a flesh eating virus caused from a spider bite), Slayer have started work on their new album.

In a short and sweet tweet from drummer Dave Lombardo, he revealed "Slayer is writing a new record."

Frontman Tom Araya previously told Billboard.com, the band would not return to the studio until Jeff was fully recovered.

"There's no way we'd go into a studio without him," Araya explained. "As a band we're not going to do something without him. He's an integral part of the band. We require his musical skills, his writing skills. He's an integral part of the band. So we're going to hold off until he's at 100 percent and can join that process and be part of it."

The news that the band are now back in the studio hopefully means the guitarist is now back to form and fans can hope to see him return to the live shows very soon.
