Chris Cornell 'blown away' by response to Songbook

Tue, 22 Nov 2011

Soundgarden head-boy Chris Cornell has revealed in a recent interview that he has been 'blown away' by the response to his recent Songbook tour, reports Billboard (via Audio Ink Radio)

The Soundgarden, Audioslave and former Temple of the Dog frontman (and founder) has been out promoting his brand new 16 track solo album, entitled 'Songbook', released this week, and has admitted that he has been both 'surprised' & 'touched' by the warm response he has received so far.

"It blows me away that there’s this willingness by an audience — continually, night after night, just all over the country and even in different parts of the world — to sit and listen to a guy singing a song and playing acoustic guitar quietly, and not making a sound"

"And then between songs they’re shouting out (requests) and actually having a conversation with the guy that’s on stage. It’s really something I didn’t expect, and it’s something that I really like. I didn’t realize it was going to be as special to me as it is."

'Songbook' was released on Nov.21 and features live renditions of songs from throughout Cornell's career as well as covers of Led Zeppelin's 'Thank You' & John Lennon's 'Imagine'. The live album also features a new song entitled 'The Keeper', which was written exclusively for the Marc Forster directed movie, 'Machine Gun Preacher' which start Gerrard Butler.
