Pearl Jam have pledged to donate $50,000 to children's charity 'Blessings in a Backpack', reports LoudWire.com
The Seattle scene pioneers, who celebrated a special anniversary in September at the Alpine Valley's Music Theater, will donate the money to the Wisconsin based children's charity. The generous donation will be pledged via Pearl Jam's Vitalogy Foundation charity organization.
The money will benefit up to 250 students at the Wileman Elementary School which teaches a number of economically disadvantaged students. Each Friday, during the school year, Blessings in a Backpack sends eligible students home from school with a small bag packed with food such as canned meals & vegetables, oatmeal, fruit snacks & juice boxes.
Mike Heine, who is a spokesman for the school's district said of the project:
'We expect the program to start the first weekend after the winter break'
