Queen abandon new album plans
Wed, 07 Dec 2011
The proposed Queen album that was set to feature previously unheard vocals of Freddie Mercury laid down before he died has been shelved, reports RockNewsDesk
Brian May & Roger Taylor announced last month that they were planning to search through their archives in order to produce a record based on unreleased recordings of the singer before he died in 1991.
But now Talyor has revealed that he doesn't see the project happening.
The drummer tells Ultimate Classic Rock: "I’ve got to tell you: there won’t be an album.
"There’s just not enough. And the last thing I want to do is have a sort of barrel-scraping exercise."
"But that doesn’t mean fans have heard the last of Queen – Taylor says there are at least two unheard recordings which can be brushed up and turned into releases.
"There’s a couple of great tracks that Freddie recorded with Michael Jackson. Brian and I are working on them and they are good.
"At some point they will surface, I think, when we feel it’s a good moment. I don’t really want to ride any sort of wave there. That will be probably later some point next year."
