Jimi Hendrix signed contract sells for over $45,000
Thu, 15 Dec 2011
A signed settlement contract between Jimi Henrix, PPX Records, Michael Jeffries and Warner Brothers has just sold for an eye watering sum of $45,960,00, reports UltimateClassicRock
The 14 page document, which is dated June.24 '68, is signed by Hendrix on page 13, and is the only known contract signed by all concerned. The contract also effectively released Hendrix from his first deal. Reportedly an atrocious first effort which meant Jimi was only paid one percent of the retail selling price for all the records he sold.
The rock artefact went under the hammer at a recent auction listed by Gotta Have Rock & Roll. The listing started at $10,000 but eight bids placed pushed the price to just shy of the $50,000 mark.
However, another contract, a publishing agreement covering songs 'Purple Haze' & 'The Wind Cries Mary' sold for even more with the final asking price reaching a staggering $62,775.00.
