Foo Fighters make the earth move... sort of
Mon, 19 Dec 2011
Geologists at two monitoring stations about a mile from th
e Western Springs venue where the Foo Fighters Auckland concert was being held last Tuesday registered 'volcanic tremors' and vibrations with a strong but low signal that lead to worries of an eruption brewing.
They later discovered it wasnt a sign of an eruption from the country's nearby vocalnoes but infact the man-made work of 50,000 Foo Fighters fans dancing and rocking out during the show.
"The ground was shaking three times per second in a nice rhythmic motion." said the report from the Geologists in Auckland.
The breaks in the tremor also matched up to the breaks between support act "Tenascious D" and the main act of Dave Grohl and co.
