Original Velvet Revolver line up to reunite for one off benefit show in Los Angeles

Mon, 09 Jan 2012

Velvet Revolver will reunite with former frontman Scott Weiland to perform together for the first time since 2008 at a Los Angeles benefit gig this Thursday night at the House Of Blues.

Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland left Velvet Revolver in 2008 and the band have yet to replace the singer despite previous searches and rumours surrounding many metal/rock vocalists in the past year.

The show on Thursday will see the band honour John O'Brien who was found dead last August in a Chicago hotel room, he was VR guitarist Dave Kushner's best friend.

It was Dave Kushner that orchestrated the one-off reunion after his wife suggested they hold a benefit concert for O'Brien's wife and the band and Scott both agreed to take part.

"We did a benefit show for this thing called Road Recovery – me, Duff, Slash and Matt – in New York, and that’s when I asked those guys individually if they would agree to do it," Kushner explains to Rolling Stone. "Once they said so then I got in touch with Scott, and he agreed."

Other artists taking part in the benefit include Sheryl Crow, Maroon 5 and Tom Morello - tickets are available at www.livenation.com.
