Metallica confirm 3D movie will go ahead

Tue, 10 Jan 2012

In October reports that Metallica were planning to start work on their first major film, the band have now officially announced the project.

In the statement on www.metallica.com on Friday, the band confirmed "We're here to tell you that, yes, there is indeed a 3D project in the very early stages of production!"

The band have revealed the planned project is expected to be available in movie theaters and cinemas for 2012.  The film currently still has no title, script or director but is in the very early stages of production.

In addition to their Metallica in 3D project, the band also announced at the start of the year their Beyond Magnetic EP will be available as a CD release from January 30th/31st.

They are currently working on material for their next studio album which drummer Lars Ulrich has recently told Rolling Stone Magazine that they're already 7-8 songs in and that "The stuff we're coming up with is more groove-oriented, a heavier version of what we were doing in the early Nineties."
"If Death Magnetic was a logical successor to [1988's] …And Justice For All, the next album will be a heavier Black Album,"
guitarist Kirk Hammett also told the magazine, "We're not going to the depths of complexity that we did for Death Magnetic. The stuff we're coming up with is more groove-oriented, a heavier version of what we were doing in the early Nineties."
