Alice in Chains start work on new album

With guitarist Jerry Cantrell now recovered from his shoulder s
urgery, Alice In Chains have started work on their new album.
The band had started writing material last year the guitarist revealed to Rolling Stone magazine recently, they plan to head into the studio in the early part of this year. "I had shoulder surgery. I had to get some bone spurs and torn cartilage taken care of, so that put me back a little bit," he says. "But we’ve been writing through the whole process."
The last Alice In Chains record, 2009's "Black Gives Way to Blue", featured a guest spot from Elton John and Cantrell still is humbled by his appearance on the track and went on to explain, "He’s the guy who inspired me to start playing music, so to have him play on one of our records – especially such a meaningful record, where we’re restarting our musical careers and saying goodbye and honoring our buddy – it’s a tremendous thing."
