Blue Oyster Cult's Richie Castellano cover's Queen, single handedly
Mon, 30 Jan 2012
Blue Oyster Cult multi-instrumentalist Richie Castellano has covered Queen classic 'Bohemian Rhapsody', single handedly, reports HenneMusic
The talented musician joined Blue Oyster Cult in 2004 as the band's bassist, however, in 2007 he stepped up to replace founding member, Allen Lanier, after he retired. Castellano then switched to duel duties on keyboards and rhythm guitar.
Castello has explained on his blog his lifelong love for the Bristish rock legends, which started after discovering the Queen number in his youth:
'In 1992 (I think) I went to the movies with my dad to see ‘Wayne's World.’ When it got to the famous car scene and Bohemian Rhapsody came on, I asked my dad, ‘What is this?’ He said, ‘This is Queen.’ I remember listening as the song just kept adding more and more layers of awesomeness until it just erupted at the famous head-banging climax. I was sold. This was officially the best song I'd ever heard and it only took one listen of only half of it to realize that.'
