Tony Iommi "I was extremely nervous" before Birmingham show

Wed, 23 May 2012

Last Saturday night, Black Sabbath played a homecoming show at Birmingham's O2 Academy as a 'warm up' to their upcoming Download Festival headlining spot.

Guitarist Tony Iommi, has been undergoing treatment after being diagnosed with Lymphoma at the start of the year which resulted in the band cancelling all of their planned tour dates, expect their Download Festival and Lollapalooza Festival appearances, says he was "extremely nervous" before the show on Saturday night.

"I was extremely nervous beforehand about playing a long set, not knowing whether I'd be able to last." says the legendary guitarist on his website www.iommi.com yesterday.

He adds, "It turned out to be no problem whatsoever because Ozzy, Geezer and Tommy were nailing everything, no chance to feel tired!

I'm really pleased with how it turned out, fantastic crowd and I want to say thank you to all of them for giving me such an amazing reception. On our way again at last!"
