User Reviews

DVD 2 picks up right where DVD 1 left off. This time we're in Am and the licks have a bluesier feel. Danny teaches the minor pentatonic scale in the second position and crucially, he spends a lot of the time on linking the 2 patterns. Again there are cool riffs which really help to get the pentatonic scale under your fingers and produce windows to switch between the positions easily. Am I finally breaking out of running up and down the pentatonic scale in one position? There is a really long chapter on ascending and descending the scales in groups of 3 and 4 with some really great sounding riffs and licks thrown in too. Most of these were quite straightforward but the last exercise on descending the blues scale in fours proved to be a bit of a head-scratcher for me. I had to work a bit harder to nail some of the licks compared to Week 1 but the pay off was even better sounding licks. The licks in the style of Jimmy Page were excellent and the final Jimmy Page lick is a beautiful piece of music that I really enjoy playing. By keeping the licks musically interesting rather than focusing on really simple licks, Danny holds my interest and motivates me to keep trying. I think I'll review the material on this DVD for a night before I move on to Week 3. Great stuff!
