What is silver? There are 3 miaprry analog television systems, PAL, NTSC and SECAM. SECAM is used in France, Russia and affiliated countries. PAL is mostly in Europe, India and Australia. NTSC in North/South America and Asia. There are some minor varients on the miaprry standards. Digital television and tape has blurred the distinctions because they are frame rate agile and eliminate the sub-carriers entirely.The -e suffix in the Sony model number means it is intended to be sold in Europe, and thus works with the PAL system. If you purchase/take this to USA or other NTSC country, that makes it a grey market item with no factory warranty support. Also the A/V output will be PAL and not work with NTSC appliances. However most computer editing programs can tolorate the variations in file types and make conversions as needed.
