User Reviews

This is a great start to what seems like a great course. I've played for years but my main focus has been rhythm guitar and bass. However, I've recently decided to get my lead guitar chops up to scratch. I know the Pentatonic scale backwards so I thought the first DVD might be too easy for me but not at all. It was perfect for my level. Danny Gill is a first rate teacher, he breaks things down to small understandable segments, reviews often, and manages to keep the learner interested throughout. The DVD lasts for about an hour and a half but it is broken down into logical chapters. I found myself pausing frequently to try and figure out and memorise the licks. Speaking of the licks, they are a cut above your typical 'learn lead guitar' course. They aren't cheesy and don't sound like 'learners licks' if you know what I mean. Danny dives straight in with bends, slides, hammer-ons, pull-offs and vibrato. The licks are playable - with a bit of practice - and sound great, you could use them in a band jam that night and not sound naff. It might not suit the absolute beginner but it was perfect for me. I'm going to stick with the 6 weeks and see if "Stick with this course and we guarantee you will improve" holds true. On to week 2!
