A number of our technique courses come with detailed tablature in Adobe PDF document format, which you can access by clicking on the document icon that will appear under the media player. Due to copyright law, we are however unable to provide supporting tablature for song lessons and courses.
If no tab is available, you will not see this icon but please note that you can easily adjust the playback speed of any video lesson, allowing you to slow down any parts you'd like to see in more detail without affecting the pitch of the notes by clicking on the 'cog' icon on the bottom right side of the media player and selecting a variety of slower speeds. You can also repeatedly loop a section of video by using the A-B repeat looping option (see below for more information on how to use this looping tool)
** Please note - Tablature downloads are limited to 20 monthly downloads for the first 3 months of subscription **
Yes, you can. We're continually adding new courses and lessons to our Library, and we aim to expand the musical genres we cover, plus react to latest guitar techniques with fresh new lessons. If there's something you'd like to see more of, we're keen to hear from you. You can email your suggestions to us here: enquiries@licklibrary.com
Yes, in many cases they do! We’ve got over 600 high-quality song play-along tracks so, once you've learned how to play your chosen song, you can jam it out with a band. Simply click on the musical notes icon in the bottom right of the media player. The backing tracks have the original guitar track missing so you can fill in the guitar parts yourself and check that you're playing everything right.
As a member, you'll also be able to access an additional 700 backing tracks covering a range of different styles. Perfect if you feel like spending some time improvising and honing your guitar soloing skills.
** Please note - we allow unlimited streaming of backing tracks as part of the paid subscription. All tracks are also available to download as MP3s. Media downloads are restricted during the free membership trial period and limited to 20 monthly downloads for the first 3 months of subscription **
Absolutely! We want to support our members every step of the journey. Get in touch, and our team can offer guidance on lessons or courses that will keep you inspired and improving at a serious pace. If you've forgotten your password simply click on the 'Forgot your password?' link that you can see on the Login panel. You'll need to re-enter your email address that you registered with Licklibrary, then we will send you an email containing a link enabling you to reset your password so you can carry on enjoying the site.
This doesn't take long to arrive so you´ll be up and running again no time, but if you haven't received this email, please check your spam/junk folder in case it has ended up in there. If you have requested a password reset to a mis-spelt or un-registered email address then you will not receive this email, so please ensure you enter the correct email address.
If you get locked out of your account you'll have access again after only 30 minutes. These restrictions are in place to protect your account from fraudulent activity so we thank you for your patience. We strongly advise not to copy and paste your new password when entering it a second time from your first entry as this can cause issues. We suggest to manually type in the new password twice and also ensure that your web browser is not storing any existing passwords for Licklibrary, as again this can cause login failures.
PLEASE NOTE: It is not possible to contact us directly to ask us what your current password is as all account passwords are encrypted and we cannot see what they are, you must use the password reset option.
We want to make your Licklibrary experience as personalised for you as possible, so we try to match you with the best lessons and courses for your level, musical tastes and guitar goals. You can also store any lessons that catch your eye in your watch list or create a playlist – click on your name at the top of the page.
Yes, you can! By default, once you've started watching a lesson or course or jam along with a backing track, you'll see it appear on your personal home page every time you log in under a handy 'Continue Watching' menu. You can also see your recently viewed lessons by clicking on the 'Learn' drop-down menu at the top of the page under the section 'My Placed' on the left side of the menu.
We also offer a facility to add videos to your own 'watchlists' and backing tracks to 'playlists', which you can easily do by clicking either on the '+' symbol you may see for any given course, lesson or backing track or by clicking the 'Add to Watchlist/Playlist' button that you will see when you have a course/lesson/backing track open. Your personal watchlist and playlists can be easily accessed by either clicking on your name in the top right corner of the website when you are logged in and selecting 'My Watchlist' or 'My Playlists' from the drop down menu, or via the Learn drop-down menu under 'My Places'
Yes! Everything you can see within the 'Learn' area of the site (so all visible courses, lessons and backing tracks) is included within your Licklibrary membership and you've got unlimited access to watch these lessons and courses and play backing tracks as often as you like.
Due to the way in which some web browsers and associated plug-ins control the operation of various elements on websites, such as pop-up windows, automated playback of audio/video, having such controls enabled can inadvertently affect the functionality of legitimate sections of our website. If you are having any issues with our media player we first suggest to try disabling any pop-up / advert blockers that are active as this could the the likely cause of the issue. If you continue to have media player issues after trying this please email us at technical@licklibrary.com for further assistance.
Yes it does! Our media player has the capability to loop sections of a video so that it can replay any section you choose to help you practice and learn easily with your tutor without having to fiddle with the player controls. Just follows these simple steps :-
1) To set the loop start point (A), click the A-B Loop icon (bottom right of the player window)
2) To set the loop end point (B) just click the A-B loop icon again.
The video will then loop continuously between points A & B until you click the A-B Loop icon again or click stop on the player, either of which will cancel the loop. To enable the loop again you will need to repeat the two steps above.
To adjust the playback speed to slow down or speed up any video, just click the 'settings' cog icon (bottom right of the player window) and then you can select a range of speeds from 0.25x (slowest 1/4 speed of normal) to 2x (fastest two times normal speed). To reset speed to normal just select 1x. All speed changes do not affect the pitch of the sound so you will still be able to play along if you are tuned to the same tuning of the tutor's guitar.

The media player that is built into our website (JW Player) has an in-built feature whereby if a Chromecast or Apple AirPlay compatible device is detected on the same home/work network, an extra icon will appear on the right hand side of the video player controls.
Primarily if the following criteria is met then you should see an extra icon appear to the bottom right of our media player :-
a) Chromecast using Windows, Android and Mac OS only (iOS devices cannot directly cast via Chrome, see * below) - You must use Google Chrome as your web browser and that there is a Chromecast compatible device/TV detected on the same network.
b) Apple Airplay using Mac OS / iOS devices - You must use Safari as your browser and if an Apple AirPlay compatible device/TV is detected on the same network.
Any other type of web browser will probably not allow JW Player to effectively detect any casting devices and therefore is unlikely to show this extra icon if you have a compatible device to cast to.
Alternatively, if you have a recently manufactured ‘Smart TV’ you may not need a Chromecast or Apple Airplay device connected to it, instead you may be able to use a 3rd party app to receive video casted from other devices (one of many examples of such an app is ‘AirStream’) or that the TV itself might have AirPlay 2 or Chromecast capability built in (please refer to your TV manufacturer for more information).
There may be some experimenting required as well as some technical knowledge to achieve this if you don’t have a Chromecast dongle or Apple TV connected to your TV, but in theory in most scenarios you should be able to get this working.
YouTube is a great resource for finding guides on how to cast video to a TV so you may do well to have a venture on there for some further advice, but you are welcome to ask us further questions if you have any and we will do our very best to answer them!
* NB Due to the fact that the iOS version of Google Chrome browser uses Webkit as its rendering engine, direct casting from Google Chrome (or any other web browser) on an iPhone/iPad to Chromecast is not possible. Therefore the only way to cast from any iOS web browser to Chromecast would be via a 3rd party 'screen mirroring' application that basically will mirror your iOS display to Chromecast. There are a number of these applications available in the Apple App Store, examples being Streamer for Chromecast +, MomoCast, Reflector, iWebTV App etc.
