Guthrie Govan

G is for guitarist and G is for Guru. G is for great and G is for genius. And G is for Guthrie Govan, to whom - as anyone who has ever seen the man perform will know - every one of those epithets applies. Especially genius, and especially in its sense of 'innate ability', of being a natural. So natural a player is Guthrie Govan, in fact, that you could be forgiven for imagining that he must have been born with a guitar in his hand. You'd only be half wrong.

Guthrie can’t remember when he first picked up a guitar, but people tell him he was three when he played his first chord. (He does remember, though, that the chord was a basic D shape, for which is three year old fingers only needed to cover half of the fret board.)
