A good solid product for improving your alternate picking skills. Danny Gill is an excellent teacher who begins with the basics (how to best hold the pick etc) & then gives the student some small licks to practice to get the fundamental technique down pat. You then work your way through 3 pieces of increasing difficulty along with the backing track to steadily improve. And that is what you certainly will do if you practice this. I would have liked a 4th piece of serious difficulty for the really advanced pupil but all in all this is an excellent tutorial. Rating 4.5/5.

I voeuntler my 60 345 for the test. Unless I can borrow the 59 red 345 I sold a few months back. That one had a neck pickup that blew everything out of the water ( at 9.2K, I think). If I thought that would end the controversy/bad mouthing of 345 s, I'd fly anywhere and make an event out of it. Maybe I can get Vintage Guitar to do something. Get some impartial judges with good ears and end this once and for all. Who's in and where?

This is a great DVD, overall. My only beef is that there isn't really much of a gap between the intermediate and advanced song. The intermediate song seems to be more of an advanced one; although the left-hand bit isn't too challenging, the sheer speed at which the three-string arpeggios is played is so diffiicult to maintain and keep clean! Is it really only intermediate-level?! I found it easier to learn the advanced song, personally, so I'm not sure if the level was correctly gauged here. But it's easy to nitpick: a great DVD, and a great teacher! Thank you!
