In this section, Sofie Veie breaks down the structure of Major Triads and guides you through their inversions. Learning how to invert triads across the fretboard not only increases your chord vocabulary but also aids in developing smooth transition and voice leading in chord progressions. Minor Triads & Inversions
Exploring Musical Moods and Textures
Minor Triads offer a contrast to their major counterparts, providing a more introspective and complex emotional palette. This course segment focuses on understanding the structure of Minor Triads and mastering their inversions. Sofie demonstrates how manipulating the order of notes can dramatically alter the mood and texture of your music, offering insights into minor key tonality which is crucial for genres like blues, jazz, and rock.
Using Triads as Chord Extensions
Enriching Chord Progressions
One of the most exciting aspects of triads is their ability to function as extensions in more complex chords. This advanced technique can revolutionise your playing style and harmonic knowledge. In this section, Sofie teaches how to layer triads over different root notes to create extended chords such as 7ths, 9ths, 11ths, and 13ths. This approach not only enriches the harmonic depth of your playing but also enhances improvisation skills, making your solos and accompaniments more dynamic and expressive.
