Jam With Michael Casswell
Lessons Included in this Course
Course Content Overview
The "Jam with Michael Casswell" course is built around three original blues rock backing tracks, each representing a distinct level of challenge. Rather than learning pre-written solos note-for-note, this course invites you to engage with the music as a real improvising guitarist — with Michael demonstrating beginner, intermediate, and advanced solo approaches over each track to guide your musical development.
- Beginner Blues Rock Jam — An accessible entry point into Michael's world, focusing on foundational blues rock techniques including pentatonic phrasing, controlled string bending, basic vibrato, and rhythmic chord work. Ideal for players beginning to explore the language of blues and classic rock guitar.
- Intermediate Blues Rock Jam — A step up in musical sophistication, introducing double stops, more expressive vibrato, legato runs, and the kind of dynamic phrasing that gives a solo its shape and emotional arc. Michael's intermediate solos demonstrate how to make every note count.
- Advanced Blues Rock Jam — The full expression of Michael Casswell's musical personality: fluid whammy bar technique, complex double stop bends, pick slides, open string riffs, and the kind of nuanced, conversational phrasing that can only come from years of professional performance experience.
All three tracks come with on-screen chord and scale graphics for when it's your turn to play, and all of Michael's solo performances are fully transcribed and available as downloadable PDF tablature.

This Course is Ideal for Players Who...
The "Jam with Michael Casswell" guitar course is specifically designed for intermediate guitarists who want to move beyond technique and develop genuine musical expression within the world of classic blues rock guitar.
This course is perfect for guitarists who want to learn the secrets behind Michael Casswell's celebrated approach to phrasing, tone, and feel — the qualities that made him one of the most in-demand session players of his generation, working alongside artists as diverse as Brian May, Cozy Powell, and Ronan Keating. It is ideal for players who are drawn to the expressive, soulful side of guitar playing and who want to develop a genuine understanding of how blues and rock vocabulary works, rather than simply memorising licks. If you learn best through detailed, structured instruction combined with hands-on practice against real backing tracks, this course will provide exactly the environment you need.
This course is also an outstanding choice for any guitarist who has developed a solid technical foundation and is now looking to develop the musical depth and expressive range that will take their playing to the next level.
What will I achieve from completing this course?
Learning to play in the style of Michael Casswell offers benefits that extend far beyond these three tracks. This blues rock guitar course serves as a comprehensive masterclass in expressive phrasing, dynamic control, and the musical intelligence that underpins all great guitar playing. By the time you've worked through all three levels, you'll have developed a musical vocabulary that will enrich your playing across every style you approach.
You will develop mastery of string bending and vibrato — the twin pillars of expressive lead guitar — giving your solos the vocal, singing quality that distinguishes great blues rock playing. You'll build a genuine understanding of how to use double stops to add harmonic richness to your lines, and how to deploy the whammy bar as a subtle, musical tool rather than a gimmick. Your sense of phrasing will sharpen dramatically, as you learn to shape solos that breathe, build, and resolve in musically satisfying ways.
Beyond individual techniques, this course will fundamentally improve your ability to improvise with feel and intention. You'll understand how to listen to a backing track and respond to it musically, how to use space and silence as effectively as notes, and how to develop the kind of personal voice on the instrument that makes your playing instantly recognisable. These are lessons that apply equally whether you're playing blues, rock, country, or any other style that values expression over speed.
