Guthrie has been my favourite guitarist for say 2 years and ive been searching and searching for proper guthrie lessons and such and when i saw this i literally panced around the room like a lunatic , he has so much experience and his own personal comments on music and he just knows everything from jazz blues rock country and everything , i was so happy to have his insight and all that now into my brain haha , thank you so much lick library !

Please make this downloadable. I connect to Lick Library whenever I can, but unfortunately I do not always have a connection, so I can not enjoy this video whenever I want. Thank you very much.

Thanks to all you made this happen. I gained so much pleasure from spending and hour or so watching Guthrie play and talk. It looks like a lot of us would gain from this being downloadable too! Thanks again, and thank you Guthrie, you have such a humble and thoughtful way about your teaching.

Great player, teacher, technician, teacher that obviously has years of fantastic guitar workahead of him to present to music/ guitar lovers. This webcast gets into some of his signature stylistic approaches and showcases his tongue in cheek sense of humour throughout. The time went by so fast I was surprised when it was over. He is one of my favourite guitarists and this presentation was amazing. Thanks so much Lick Library!!

Q&A's from the webcast

Q. How do you find playing with Dizzee Rascal, he’s obviously a fan of your playing. How did you get involved? @50.30
A. I do alot of work for a company called replay heaven, they recreate samples for various producers in the dance community(find out more about Replay Heaven by watching the video). I get to do alot of guitar stuff and some bass stuff for the company and we never know who the client is. Some times its someone who’s record isn’t going to go anywhere, sometimes it’s the Sugababes that happened a couple of Christmas’s ago but we don’t know when where doing it… and that’s how I ended up unwittingly playing on the latest Dizzee Rascal album. Then we fast forward slightly to when the BBC asked Dizzee to play the Electric Proms… (See more about this story by watching the video).
Q. What are your musical influences and what current bands do you take influence from? @1:10:39
A. I’m going to have to borrow an answer from the great Robben Ford, he was asked something like that… I mostly listen to dead guys. For me, I try not to listen to too much stuff with guitar in, I get enough of guitar in my days work. The last stuff that excited me was the new Imogen Heap album…and to be really irritating to answer the second half of the question, my musical influences? Everything I’ve ever heard… (see more of this answer on the video).
Q. If you were learning to guitar over again, what would you learn first to give your playing a kick-start in the right direction? @35.00
A. Follow the stuff that intrigues you, if something excites you… any sound or any song that screams out to you ‘Learn me!’ just follow that, your instincts are generally usually right and your ideas about music evolve as you learn more and more new stuff. So yeah, follow what sounds good.
